In T42 with ACPI I can not have the BIOS set to Battery Optimized. Full power or Automatic works fine. Others have reported this same issue under APM where they had to set Full power to get it to work though on my system as long as APM.sys is installed it works in Battery Optimized but it does not without APM.sys enabled (without ACPI).
